Greetings all who wrestle for the Kingdom,
I have talked to a lot of discouraged people in prayer ministries across the country over the past month or so.
Do not let the distractions and discouragements that are operating in the church today pull you away from doing the work of prayer or conversing with God in prayer and obeying His directions. We have seen marvelous things happen as a result of God's leading in prayer. We need to continue to pray even when circumstances do not line up with what we know to be true in the Word. This is true for healing but it is also true for every difficult circumstance that we find ourselves in. Stay focused on the truth and on Jesus; let the Holy Spirit guide your prayers and your ministry. The details and timing belong to God so let us stay 'in Him' and trusting.
Claudia has been reading Dorothy Sayers (one of the Inklings) recently and this quote stood out; "I believe it would be a grave mistake to present Christianity as something charming and popular with no offense in it...we cannot blink the fact that gentle Jesus meek and mild was so stiff in His opinions and so inflammatory in His language that He was thrown out of church, stoned, hunted from place to place, and finally gibbeted as a firebrand and a public danger. Whatever his peace was, it was not the peace of an amiable indifference." Dorothy Sayers quoted in the book Dorothy L. Sayers by David Coomes. The path we are on in prayer is not an amiable, milk-toast, defeated beggar asking for a meal approach. It is filled with the power and presence of the Most High God and it will not always be an easy road. But we are children of the King and we are learning to battle well. We are taking back ground formerly held by enemy forces. Do not lose heart because everything does not make sense. The only thing that needs to make sense is our complete trust in God and that regardless of what we see we stay in the battle where we have been placed and stand. He owns the results, we own obeying His orders.
When we obey remarkable things happen.
Such as ...
REPORTS: * A young Pastor who came to the "Isn't She Beautiful" conference in January was led to move to GR and join Mars Hill. He did not have a job and was considered rash and foolish by many of his family friends in Ohio. He moved here the last weekend in March and started a new job at a higher pay rate last week and loves the new position. It is turning heads in Ohio. God you are faithful to provide when you guide. * The woman we told you about last month who was healed of Depression gave us a report last week. She had forgotten to take her anxiety med's (not on purpose) for over six weeks and the doctors were stunned that she had not suffered any problems. Her med's for depression have been reduced from 20 to 12 to 9 to 8 to 6 by her doctors with no harmful effect. In fact, she has full energy, no pain and is working 14 hour days. Now that is being healed! She is still walking out the daily challenges of her full healing but is now waling in hope and health on the way to full recovery. Thank you God. * A woman with pain in both her hands was prayed for and we got an email that the pain in her right hand stopped instantly and the left hand gradually over the next week. We bless you Father for the truth of your Word ... by His stripes we are indeed healed. * We heard back from a person where we had prayed in proxy for an aunt with Cancer. She went back to the doctors and the Cancer is gone. Another inexplicable coincidence that we affirm as the power of God at work. * Last week at the "W" a woman was visiting from another church and was in sever pain in her feet. The left foot form a bone spur and the right from nerve damage. She had had cortisone shots the day before that had not diminished the pain at all. At the end of the worship time she realized that all of the pain (including shoulder and neck pain from some yard work that day) was gone. You inhabit our praise and sometimes fill it with healing power. Thank you Father. * We heard back from the young lady who was on the track team at GVSU who was healed of back pain that she is still free of all pain after 8 weeks. She is now trusting God for %3,000.00 to go to Africa with a sports ministry in two weeks. We bless you Father that provision is your name and look to you in all things. * A young lady came to the "W" last night with severe allergies. They were so bad that she could not see out of her right eye and was feeling miserable. Rush gave a testimony about how God had revealed fear operating in his life and how he had repented and been healed of massive allergies that afternoon and during his testimony she said "hey, that's me!", repented of fear and was healed while he was speaking. Once again Father you do above and beyond what we ask or think. * Oh, that same young lady has never asked for prayer for healing of her knees because she had prayed once and it was not healed so she thought she would just have to remain in her pain. After God healed her allergies she asked for prayer for knee pain. By the way, she is a cheerleading coach and is scheduled to be a leader at a cheerleading camp this summer and was afraid she could not participate because of the pain. The leader led her through repentance of a number of things and then stated "I believe the Holy Spirit just healed you as you repented ... how do you feel?" She said that all the pain was gone and ran outside the room to do some flips and cartwheels in the hall and came back in praising God that there was no pain. Way cool God. * We heard from a woman who had been having pain for a number of months in her upper legs and this past week found lumps there as well. She was prayed for and felt warmth in a number of spots where people were laying hands on her and just wrote back to say "the pain is all gone!" Yes and amen. * Another report from a Pastor who was in one of our sessions that they have begun to pray for the sick and God is healing people. Lord, expand the truth of your desire to heal across your church as we pray. * The single mom who just left a dark life needed a car in order to find a job and during the prayer time a young man said "I have been praying for the past four weeks about who to give my car to. I knew it was going to be a single mom ... apparently that is you." Father, thank for a generous man who gave as you directed now we ask for a blessing on him and we ask for a job for this single mom. * Another young man with allergies was prayed for by one of the WT members after he repented of agreeing with fear and he was free of any symptoms or congestion within an hour and slept through the night without any problems for the first time in many nights. Thank you God.
Acts 2:22 states, "Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know-"
What you were reading above is a reflection of this verse. Acts 2:22 states a number of things but please notice that it is referring to Jesus operating as a man, not as God to teach us that as a man God was doing miracles through Him. God is still doing miracles today through people who are sold out to Him, listening to Him and obeying His direction.
Thank you Father for allowing us to see these things revealed and operating in our lives today. Expand our understanding and increase our faith we ask. Your will be done on earth today as it is in heaven. Breathe healing and peace to the hurting hearts of your prayer warriors who are discouraged or beat up.
Also, a bit of a report is in order this month. Many of you have been praying for Claudia and I as we have been speaking and ministering and some feedback would be appropriate.
We got a letter from the Senior Pastor of Spring Valley Community Church in Allendale and he stated that the teaching/ministry time we spent with them a few weeks ago is still reverberating through the church. Many people were healed the night we spent with them. One in particular was a gentleman who came up to support his wife in prayer but was suffering with severe Psoriasis. Claudia prayed for him as well. He went and sat down and watched as his skin came back to normal healthy flesh. God is good indeed.
Our time in Colorado was refreshing and productive. We had a couple of days just roaming around the Rockies enjoying the splendor our Lord has created and then taught and ministered from Friday night through Sunday morning. Again, many people were healed at the conference and the baton for healing ministry was handed off as well. We heard back from one person that he went to the hospital the next day to pray for someone and they improved immediately after he prayed for them. We also prayed for the car of our host family. It broke on the way to the airport so we prayed for it beside the road and it fired up and ran fine to the airport, back to church and the next day to the dealership. After thorough examination and testing the dealer could not find anything wrong with the car. Mechanical healing! Bless God He is bigger than any problem we have.
We also ministered last week at Orchard Hill Reformed Church on the north side of Grand Rapids. God is moving in the hearts of His people and we were able to pray with a number of folk after teaching at the morning service. We heard many stories of how God is healing bodies and hearts at Orchard Hill through prayer.
We deeply appreciate those of you who prayed with us and for us during these ministry times. It cannot be overstated the importance of prayer support when ministry is happening. For those of you in the "Wider Wrestling Team" who are getting this Update please continue to support your Pastors and the ministry efforts of your home church in prayer. You may not see the tangible results or ever hear about them but your prayers are impacting your church and city for Christ. Oh yeah, same goes for you all on the WT as well. Keep praying, believing.
The Old Man Worship Band will be doing the worship again at the "W" on the 6th of June. This is leading up to the Church Prayer Leaders Network National Convention in June where the OMWB will be doing the worship during the mini-conference I am speaking at on June 13th during the day. My mini-conference will be a day-long teaching on Healing Prayer and the OMWB will be opening the morning and afternoon sessions with worship. I will be also be teaching two breakout sessions during the main convention so prayer support is welcomed again to cover these ministry times. Anyone interested in attending the conference can sign up at prayerleader.com/content/view/313/5/. You can sign up for just the mini-seminars or for the whole thing online but the evening sessions are free and open to the public.
Here are some additional things to be aware of as WT members;
OPPORTUNITIES: · The numeric code for help in the prayer room is "22222". If you see that number flash on the screen during a service please go back to the prayer room to provide assistance or find a Pastor to alert them to the need · Please pray for the staff, leaders and volunteers at Mars Hill as they begin to train on what the XYZ's should look like on a practical basis. Continue to pray also and ask God where you fit in this picture. · There are resources available now at www.hearinggod.org and www.thewrestlingteam.com. We have some of the Updates loaded there as well as the healing verses, a reading list and some of the prayers that we have found effective will be loaded soon. These are not Mars Hill sites and are only there for the purpose of easily dispersing information and resources. · Please continue to pray for Ted and Claudia as they speak and minister; o June 13 - 16 Church Prayer Leaders Network National Conference. The CPLN was started by Pray! Magazine and is run by the founder of Pray! Magazine, Jon Graf. The National conference is in GR this year at Sunshine Church up on the Beltline. I will be doing a six hour seminar on Healing Prayer as a pre-conference session and then speaking a couple of times during the conference.
