Greetings all who wrestle for the Kingdom, Uttermost!!! Claudia and I spent some time in prayer as we ushered in the year 2010. The phrase that kept coming to me over and over was “to the uttermost”. It was almost as if God was yelling it at me. To us it means that 2010 could be an amazing year of seeing God’s promises fulfilled to the uttermost. Physical healings, restored finances, renewed relationships and so on. It placed in us an expectation for the things that will be coming this year that will be above and beyond what we can ask or think. Take some time and meditate on the word ‘uttermost’ and ask God what it might mean for you this coming year. One of those areas of continual amazement and anticipation is the “W”. We are expecting great things this year and trust you are as well. As anyone who has been to the “W” knows we minister to people in many different ways. At times we break into small groups and pray for each other. On some occasions we have had times of personal ministry where leaders anoint and pray for individuals. Other times we will do a “swarm” where we gather around a person and everyone prays out loud all at the same time whatever God puts on their heart to pray. We also employ a tool called “the Box”. The box is always interesting and always fun. We have everyone present write out their requests and then they are placed in the box. We then do a swarm around the box and that is the ministry time. You never quite know what to expect when you walk in the door to the “W” and we think that helps keep it fresh and alive and directed by God and not us. A couple of weeks ago God put the word grace on my heart. It started with reading a section of Zechariah 7 where the people called out Grace, Grace! When the capstone to the Temple was put into place. One of the translations had the people saying “It is beautiful, it is beautiful!”. I did a bit of study over the word grace and then did a brief teaching at the “W” on how grace was given to us and how we have it and how we can use it in our lives. We then did a box where the only thing we spoke over the requests was “Grace!” Grace is what God gave us in Jesus and it is grace that is at work in and through us and when we speak grace over our situations and trust God for the result it really is a beautiful thing. If we are to see God move above and beyond what we can ask or think this coming year we need to do it bathed in and flowing through His grace. Thank God with us for these reports of grace at work to the uttermost in our midst over the past month … REPORTS • A man needed who sells cars had not sold one in three weeks and was at risk of losing his job. He asked for prayer from some “W” regulars at Panera and later that morning a man walked into the Dealership and went past three other salesmen to this man’s desk and said “I am here to buy a car” and did. A total of four cars were sold in a week. To the uttermost! • An email came in regarding a baby we had been praying for who was healed. The response of the Doctors was "We have never seen anything like this!" To the uttermost! • A woman was having severe “monthly” pain and had heard a testimony about a man praying for himself who was healed. She prayed for herself and within a few hours all the pain and symptoms left. To the uttermost! • A man was driving in a snow storm and lost control of his truck. As he was spinning out on the highway he prayed for protection and heard the thought in his head “put it in neutral” so he did. The truck slid by traffic and into the ditch and then he heard “put it in gear and accelerate” so he did and the truck went out of the ditch and back into traffic without a scratch. To the uttermost! • A person with Reinands syndrome was given direction in prayer to change their diet and they are doing much better in overall health. To the uttermost! • An intercessor had requested prayer for a couple in their small group for finances. The husband’s pay had just been cut and they did not know how they would make it. Two weeks later they found out that he was awarded a commission check that he was unaware of for over $12,000.00. To the uttermost! • Another email came from a woman who had requested prayer for a friend who was depressed and in an institution awaiting shock treatments. We put her name in the ‘box’ and within two weeks she was not only better she was “downright jolly” and was sent home the Wed. before Christmas completely well. To the uttermost! • A story came in from a person with a torn MCL who was prayed for and when they went back for a check-up prior to surgery it was completely healed. To the uttermost! • A woman who is 75 was prayed for at the “W” for knee pain (she had not walked without the help of a walker since a knee operation in May). There was no change for months. Two weeks ago one of the intercessors had the thought “it is no different than when Peter and John saw the crippled man in Acts 2, tell her to rise up and walk”. He was uncomfortable saying it but he obeyed. She then was sitting in a small group and said ‘I wonder if that worked?’ and she then proceeded to walk across the front of the room without her walker and half way across looked up and said ‘I have no pain’. She then said ‘I have to do that again’ and got up and walked all over the Church. When she got back she said ‘I am going home to bury this walker in the back yard because I do not need it anymore!’ To the uttermost! • A woman who came to the “W” with “floaters” in her eye was prayed for and they disappeared immediately. To the uttermost! • A man who was in a motorcycle accident a year ago was in a coma and brain dead. He was basically in a medical warehouse and never expected to be anything except a vegetable for the rest of his life. Some friends from AA brought his name to the “W” and we have been praying for him for six months now. A couple of months ago he came to the “W” and we swarmed him. At that point he had already begun to make noises and communicate with his eyes and other movements. The night he came he was held up in his wheelchair with straps and not in good shape. After the swarm he began to talk and do better. He came again two weeks ago and was sitting upright without straps and could say a few words. We swarmed him again and now we just heard back that he was able to walk 542 feet this week. Brain dead with no hope or is nothing impossible with God? To the uttermost! • A woman asked for prayer for her sister via the box for a place to live. She had put down a deposit on a manufactured home and then it fell through. She was going to settle for a smaller home in a different area when the sales person said that a deal had just fallen through and she might qualify for the unit. She was able to get a double wide for less money than she is paying in rent now for an old single wide. To the uttermost! • A woman asked for prayer for her friend who was an atheist. After he experienced a healing he now says he believes there is a God. Ya think? To the uttermost! • A woman in a situation where her apartment did not have high speed internet (which is required for her work) and they were not going to let her out of her lease to move to a location that would have right connections. She was discouraged because it was affecting her income and there was nothing she could do. We prayed at the “W” on Wed. night and by Saturday it was not only resolved but she had already moved into a place that had the right connections. To the uttermost! • A woman was discouraged one day and went into a Christian Bookstore with her husband not expecting to buy anything since he was the one who needed an item. While there she looked at the Sale rack and saw a Calendar at half price that she had tried to find in Dec. (looked at 6 stores including that one) but could not find it. Now here it was, there was only one and when she was checking out the clerk said “Wow, I did not know we even had this Calendar”. What a God hug. To the uttermost! • A woman who is having marital challenges where her husband refused to admit any issues in his life at all during their counseling sessions. She was very discouraged. Last week, for the first time, he opened up and admitted to issues in his childhood. A breakthrough that was completely unexpected. To the uttermost! • A woman who is part of the “W” was having issues at work and one afternoon she was cutting one person’s hair while another was waiting (both from the “W”) and they ended up ministering to people for three hours basically having a mobile “W” at her place of employment and now the atmosphere has changed. To the uttermost! • A woman who is 70 was suffering from shoulder pain since an injury last October. It was affecting her sleep and she could not raise her arm higher than her waist without help. She was prayed for at a business lunch and the pain left and she regained full range of motion instantly. To the uttermost! • A man had asked for prayer for his wife. There was some stress in the relationship and she was going to have an operation. We prayed for healing and speedy recovery and in less than two weeks they are doing amazingly well. So well that they stayed up and talked through the entire night until his alarm went off letting him know it was time to get ready for work. To the uttermost! • Another story came in of a woman who fell on the ice last week. She tore up her shoulder and the X-ray showed extensive damage that would require surgery. She and her husband began to pray and speak to the shoulder and the next day when she went to the surgeon and got the MRI he said “there is no reason this should have happened but overnight your bone is set perfectly and so we do not need to do surgery”. To the uttermost! • An intercessor that is a part of the WWT had a Nephew with 7 adult teeth missing. She prayed for him and within a few months another one “showed up” and last month a second one suddenly appeared in the X-rays. The Dentist cannot explain it since there is no way medically that this could happen. We are now awaiting the arrival of the other 5. To the uttermost! Ted and Claudia Kallman Wrestling Coaches “It's not like studying sumo wrestling in Japan. It's more like wrestling itself. This opponent of mine is sometimes beautiful, sometimes cruel, sometimes ancient, sometimes crazily relevant. I can't get a handle on it. I'm outmatched.” A. J. Jacobs, an agnostic Jew who wrote this about the Bible in his book The Year of Living Biblically “A readiness to believe every promise implicitly, to obey every command unhesitatingly, to stand perfect and complete in all the will of God, is the only true spirit of Bible study.” -Andrew Murray "Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils" -- 19th century French composer Louis Hector Berlioz "I believe we all need to listen intently to Habakkuk so we can emulate his example when our circumstances seem to contradict the character and promises of God. And let me assure you: At some point in your life, you will know circumstances that seem to contradict the character and promises of God, if you haven't already. At some moment in your future, life will not make sense." A quote Isaiah used in his blog post from C.J. Mahaney from his book Humility: True Greatness and its discussion of Habakkuk. |
